The pioneers in frozen fruit juice concentrate, Welch’s has been trusted for over a century when it comes to great tasting and quality fruit juices. This quality is a reflection of the brand’s farming families across the United States that all contribute to the fruit used in every Welch’s item. It is truly the care of each co-op family farm, cultivating the mighty Concord grape year-round, that makes Welch’s different from other brands.

What began as a venture making grape juice grew into a brand able to deliver the same quality of taste and care in other fruit-based products. Welch’s Protein Smoothies are the newest in this already extensive line of products. These Protein Smoothies are the first in a new category of dairy-free beverages made with real fruit juice. Beyond that, they also include fiber and plant-based protein - making them the perfect on the go breakfast or snack.
Known to Welch’s and trusted as the experts in packaging design for food and beverages, ICEY Design was hired by Big Easy Blends who licenses the Welch’s brand to develop the branding and design the packaging for this new line of Protein Smoothies.

Focusing on Mom’s who are always on the go, and want a healthy alternative to breakfast, it was important to design packaging that appealed to these needs. The convenient grab and go pouch does just that. Plus, with no prep or clean-up needed for the Protein Smoothie, these can be eaten anywhere at any time - giving consumers a healthy and satisfying breakfast experience or frozen snack on the go!
The visual design of the pouches was built around the Welch’s brand with a clean, simple layout. The Protein Smoothie product name is front and center and fresh fruit imagery is featured, allowing the consumer to easily understand the flavors inside. The white background offers a natural backdrop for the smoothie product and enhances the appetite appeal and flavor range. Showcasing the Welch’s logo as the hero on the front tells the consumer it is a brand that they know and love. Although this is a new Welch’s product, they know when they purchase, they can count on the same quality and taste they, and generations before them, have loved and trusted!
